Two weekends ago, Bethany, Juliana, and I had a nice family day and went to Snoqualmie Falls. I had not been there since we visited from Texas during the summer of '07 with Steve. Bethany had not been there since longer than that. And Juliana had never been at all.
The falls are still impressive despite having seen them dozens of times. Juliana was pretty stoked when she saw them. Mist from the falls was blowing up towards us and she really got a kick out of that.
Made a Polaroid Hockney version of Snoqualmie Falls that I think turned out quite nice.
Bethany and Juliana in front of the waterfall. If you look at the top of it, you can see that they are doing a bit of construction. They are actually upgrading the power plants so that they can provide electric power for 40,000 homes.
Due to the construction, the trail that goes down to the bottom of the falls is closed until 2013. Rather disappointing. Will go back when they open it again.
I took Juliana to Steel Lake Park so she could play at the playground. Used to come here a lot when I was in high school.
They have a huge playground that is perfect for the game Hot Lava Monster. Julie enjoyed running all over this place.
Here she is going down one of the slides they have there.
Julie and a little boy playing with the bells at the playground.
Playing some tic-tac-toe. I only got to turn over one cube.
Going down one of the other slides.
Wearing her new ballerina outfit.
Bethany, Juliana, and I went to the Mariners-Angels game on Sept. 1, just the three of us. Here is Adam Moore is the bullpen warming up with Jason Vargas before the game.
Under the bleacher seats. This was the first time we had gone to a game as a family.
This might be my third time saying this, but I really never get tired of this view.
Two happy girls at the game. Look how empty the stadium is. Yeah, Mariners aren't having a good year. My Angels aren't doing that well either, but at least they won this game.
As I briefly mentioned in a recent post, Bethany has been making some great jewelry. More of her stuff can be seen in the full set.
We went to a co-worker's BBQ party last Saturday and they rented this huge inflatable playground for the kids. Julie absolutely loved it.
Telling the other kids how old she is. Can you believe she's going to be 3 in less than a month!? I can't.
A bunch of other people from work showed up. There was lots of food. Mostly stuff I couldn't eat because I'm doing Atkins.
On Monday, we went with Tawnya up to Seattle on the light rail. Had lunch at the Uwajimaya food court. My latest favorite things to eat are kung pao chicken and ma po tofu.
Rode up to University Street metro station and watched the flashing lights. I wanted to take the girls somewhere special for dessert.
Going up the escalator to the street level.
The surprise place I took them to was Sweet Iron which is a little shop that makes authentic cast iron Liège Belgian waffles. I've always heard that the key to real Belgian waffles and fake ones is the use of pearl sugar, which is what Sweet Iron uses. Tawnya got what you see here, a lemon blueberry waffle with whipped cream. Bethany got a chocolate dipped waffle. I could not resist taking a bite of each. Pretty. Darn. Good. However, the waffles I had in Brussels are still better. =)
Went up to Westlake/Pacific Place to do a little window shopping. This is looking up Sixth Avenue. See more pictures from Seattle, the party, Steel, the M's game, and Snoqualmie Falls in the full set.

Bethany's not selling any of that jewelry?! Please ask the girl to reconsider! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHey Sam. While I'm sure Bethany appreciates the compliment, I don't think she'll be trying to make money off of any of her jewelry. That being said, I know she can easily swayed to give up anything that looks pretty to you, or make something that you are interested in. =)
ReplyDeletehey man, do you have those old Snoqualmie Falls pictures? if you do can you either email them to me or tag me *correctly* in Facebook? thanks man.
