Foto Friday - 10/22/10

This is my thirty-sixth Foto Friday post. The pictures today are from the Olympic Sculpture Park in Seattle, WA. Full set with all 52 pictures can be viewed here. And, as always, you can click to enlarge these pictures.

Didn't get to take many pictures these past two weeks because I've been trying to get more rest from working so much. However, last Saturday I had a father-daughter day with Juliana and I decided to take her to downtown Seattle.

Specifically, we went to the Olympic Sculpture Park in Seattle. It's a newer public park that opened in 2007, situated at the northern end of the Seattle seawall and the southern end of Myrtle Edwards Park.

Brought Julie's camera with us, but she didn't want to take any pictures. She enjoyed simply looking at all of the art instead.

The park is bigger than I thought it was going to be, but didn't have as many sculptures as I thought it would have. The entire park is 9-acre and most of the art is pretty neat. Enjoyed this one called "Wake" particularly.

Brought my mini-tripod so I could take pictures of Julie and I. I'm still using Adobe Lightroom to edit a lot of my pictures. I love using it as I think it can enhance my photos so much.

This is another I liked called "Perre's Ventaglio III". You're not supposed to touch any of the outdoor art, but that doesn't mean we can't get inside it, right?

The sun shining through "Perre's Ventaglio III".

In the distance, "Eagle", which as far as I can tell is the tallest sculpture in the park.

Elliott Avenue passes under the park.

I find taking pictures of sculptures very difficult because, generally, you are trying to make art out of pieces of art. So, with these, I feel like I have to take it one step further to make them worth looking at. Love the Space Needle looming in the background.

My pretty girl hugging one of the lamp posts in the park. She actually loved running around the park. There's lots of open areas and numerous paths.

This is "Seattle Cloud Cover" reflecting on a wall. Thought it looked prettier than the sculpture itself.

Walked a little bit down to Myrtle Edwards Park where Julie liked throwing leaves in the air. Fall colors are definitely out now in the Northwest.

Hehe... I like this one, too, because the leaf is perfectly covering her face.

Posing by the bicycle path.

And the last picture I took of was of "Split", which is a stainless steel tree.

Bethany felt called to purchase a 75-pound pumpkin for Halloween this year. It is the largest one either of us have ever had in our lives. I don't know what it is, but I'm just not very keen on opening and gutting pumpkins. So, we invited our pastor's son, Spencer to do the honors as he showed lots of enthusiasm towards helping us. He could stick his entire head in there. Crazy. I'm hoping to make a pumpkin with hair like this.

Well, that's it for this edition of Foto Friday. There are a few more sculptures I did not take pictures of, or I did not post here, so be sure to visit the full set.
