I've really gotten into Japanese culture lately. I'm not sure why. Maybe because I've researched so much of my own Chinese heritage, that a new Asian culture is something fresh and interesting. That being said, I go to a lot of blogs written by Yanks, Brits, or Aussies living in Japan to learn more about the area.
Recently, one of my favorite blogs, Danny Choo, posted an interesting blog (with pictures) about how it is generally acceptable for people to fall asleep in public areas in Tokyo. I know that you can argue the same thing about the homeless here in America, but these are businessmen, school kids, and your every day Joe doing this. Not only is it pretty much everyone sleeping, but they sleep on the ground, on benches, on the train, on their bikes, in the street... everywhere!
What do you think when you see people asleep in public in your area? Is it normal to see such a sight? How would you feel if you started seeing this more often? Would you feel comfortable enough to sleep in public?
I couldn't sleep in public. How could someone sleep on a bike? Sleeping in the park wouldn't be so bad though!
