I was completely stoked when I heard that Ken Griffey, Jr. was coming back home to the Mariners. It's a win-win for both sides; the Mariners will put more fans in seats and Griffey will get to play more. The entire city is going crazy with this news.Still, I got even more excited when I heard that the Seattle Sounders FC are hosting Chelsea for a summer exhibition match. For those who don't know, The Blues are one of the top teams in the Premier League in England and it isn't the first time they've come out here. They also played and lost to the MLS All-Star team in 2006, and played and beat the L.A. Galaxy in 2007 against David Beckham. The game will take place on July 18th at Qwest Field and will certainly draw in a huge international crowd. There are a surprisingly large amount of Chelsea boys out here, but I think the Arsenal fans are even bigger. I'm still waiting for Man U to come out here and visit me.

Not sure if I'll get a chance to go to the game. Tickets will be sparse and expensive. Will definitely watch it on TV though in glorious HD on ESPN2. Will probably be broadcast worldwide. Soccer party, anyone? Naw, who am I kidding? None of my local friends enjoy watching a good football match.
Dude, Jr. coming back is waaay more exciting! The soccer thing is only one day- Jr. is at least one season! No contest, babe.
ReplyDeleteI'll be watching the game with you in spirit!! Keep an eye on Jon Obi-Mikel for Chelski...the boy's a bit special, as they say...
