Foto Friday - 7/30/10

This is my thirtieth Foto Friday post. Sorry it is late, but the San Diego trip took up most of my time, as well as all of the posts I made for it. Also, work has never been crazier. Anywho, the main pictures today are from work and the Bite of Seattle. Full set with all 67 pictures can be viewed here. And, as always, you can click to enlarge these pictures.

Bethany and Heather are working on a wedding cake that is going to have a ton of gum paste flowers on it. It's one of the last couple cakes they will be doing together for clients. All the flowers you see here aren't even half of it.

Going to review this on my noodle blog soon. The best way to describe it is chocolate-covered Smacks cereal. So, pretty good.

Shout-out to Joe who is probably going to read this. He works at the front desk at work.

Luke making a mad dash for the exit. Monkey in the cage in the background.

One of the newer buildings on the Microsoft campus. They are pretty nice.

Another Microsoft building, but not as new as the one above. On one hand, I wish all of the MSft buildings didn't look so dramatically different from one another, but on the other hand, I don't care.

Acoustic treatment on the walls of one of our production rooms.

Captured Mike in a most awkward position.

Went up to Seattle a few weeks ago to visit the Bite of Seattle. Took Juliana, so we rode the light rail, of course. Got off at the underground University Street station, which you are seeing here, so we could catch a bus to Seattle Center.

The University Street station is pretty cool looking. Lots of animated red LED lights and what not.

Arrived on the east side of Seattle Center and was right by the EMP (Experience Music Project). Had to take at least one picture of the building. This is one of the sides of it. Would like to return one day when it's not as busy to take more shots.

The Bite of Seattle is one of the busiest events at Seattle Center. For those that don't know what it is, it's basically an annual food festival where over 50 restaurants, mostly local, are there to sell food. It's a good opportunity to try all sorts of stuff.

The past few years have been a little disappointing due to overpriced items, huge crowds, and mediocre food. This year was an improvement though. They brought back the opportunity to buy cheaper items and there were quite a few good looking restaurants. I still a couple places like California Pizza Kitchen there and that is stupid. I'm sorry, but I hate CPK. Their food is overpriced, their portions are small, and their pizza sucks animal dung.

Since I'm an adult, I can eat my dessert first, so I went to Mobatta Crepes-to-go and got a Nutella crêpe. It was pretty yummy, but not as good as the Nutella crêpe at La Crêperie Voilà.

Juliana peeking over a small fountain that is in Seattle Center. She behaved very well and successfully used the public toilet four times while we were out.

This is the second place I got food at. Pel'meni Restaurant serves pel'meni which are a Russian national dish. It's a type of dumpling consisting of a filling that is wrapped in thin unleavened dough.

I got the beef pel'meni and it was so good! They were very similar to Chinese dumplings and jiaozi.

The International Fountain is always super busy during the Bite of Seattle. Lots of kids cooling off in there. Julie looking longingly at it, but I didn't bring her swimsuit.

The third place I got food at was Janey's Pies. I got the pepper steak pie and curried chicken pie. It was nice and flaky and the filling was super flavorful.

Even Julie liked it!

Groupon was there handing out these small packets. They looked like condoms at first, but when you turn them over, you could see that they actually had Skittles in them. Silly. If you don't know what Groupon is all about, check it out. I love it.

Last thing we ate were seasoned curly fries because Julie asked for fries specifically. Here is Easter Hello Kitty checking them out.

The Space Needle with the amusements rides at the base. Look at the sky. Cloudless, clear, sunny... it was a beautiful day to be at the Bite.

I found Scott Pilgrim vs. The World t-shirts for sale at the Hot Topic at Westlake Center on the same day. It was the first time I saw it there. I knew they were going to have it. Unfortunately, I don't think any of it is really cool. Still can't wait for the movie to come out!

The band Minus the Bear came to Microsoft to play a small concert. They are a fairly big band. I can't say I've enjoyed their newer albums, but I was a huge fan of their old stuff. They did play a couple of their older songs, which was nice. To see more pictures from work and the Bite of Seattle, view the full set.
