Got three new songs that I would like to share with you.
#3 Sex Bomb-Omb (Beck) - "Garbage Truck"
Along with videos game, music plays a huge role in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. In fact, the Plumtree song "Scott Pilgrim" (which also appears on the soundtrack) was the naming inspiration for Scott Pilgrim author Bryan Lee O'Malley. Mr. Pilgrim plays in a band with the talent Stephen Stills and girl drummer Kim Pine in a band called Sex Bomb-Omb. The music that they play in the film is actually written and recorded by Beck. The second song they play is "Garbage Truck", which they perform during a battle of the bands competition. While a silly song, it fits the idea of a lo-fi garage band perfectly and it's a bit catchy. The music video above is from the actual movie, minus the attack from Mathew Patel.
#2 Neon Trees - "Animal"
Probably one of the most popular songs of this past summer, "Animal" by Neon Trees is as catchy as they get. It's one of those songs that easily gets stuck in your head and you'll end up singing throughout the day. I resisted for a while, but finally gave in. Haven't had a chance to listen to their whole album, Habits, yet. Wondering if they're going to end up one-hit wonders.
#1 The National - "Sorrow"
I recently downloaded The National's new album, High Violet. I don't know what took me so long since it was released back in May. I must say that it is one of my favorite albums of the year so far. Every song is practically gold. My favorite right now is "Sorrow". It's depressing, but I feel like it celebrates the feeling of sorrow. While we might hate being in that state at the time, we look back on it and sometimes crave to be weary, sad, or unsure. Especially all those emos. Anyway, I think it's a beautiful song and one that I've been listening to over and over again.
What have you been listening to lately?
I still regret never to going to see that movie. I kept putting it off and just never got around to it. I'll just wait for the DVD.
ReplyDeleteThe National album is really good.
Neon Tree's is my #2 discovered artist this summer. I really like that song Animal. The album only has 8 tracks and I like all of them. "1983" and "Girls and Boys in school" are my other two favs off the album but like I said they are all good.
You might still be able to find it in some theatres. Also, it should roll into the $1-$2 cheap theatres by now or soon.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that the whole Neon Tree album is worth checking out. I will do that.
yeah i never really did listen to much music, mainly whatever you were playing in the car! cool stuff, i like the Sex Bomb-Omb the best.
