We went to Bethany's cousin's baby shower two weekends ago. Tiffany is due any day now and the baby will be her first. Bethany made this cake shaped like a baby stroller.
Julie made a friend at the party.
Last week, I took a day off from work and spent the day at the Puyallup Fair with the family. We always have such a great time there. Here are a few pumpkins in the carving contest.
Like most county/state fairs, there was a deep fried foods stand. The menu this year included deep fried butter. I was tempted to try something, but resisted.
We got to the fair early enough so that there weren't any lines for the rides.
We let Julie go on a ton of rides. Her first one was this car ride that just went around in circles. Her second ride was a helicopter that goes up and down.
Juliana loved the giant slide they had. We went on this three times with her. It was fun.
She enjoyed this car ride, too, where you get to steer on a track.
Can't go to the fair without having some fresh scones. Oh man, they were so good! Also ate Krusty Pups (corn dogs), fresh-cut curly fries, and taffy.
As always, saw lots of cows and other livestock.
My mom's favorite part is the arranged produce. Here is this year's winner.
Julie went on her first roller coaster! I was worried that she wasn't going to like it, but I was completely wrong. She absolutely loved it.
She also loved the canoe ride.
And just like last year, Julie played on the traveling musical instrument. She liked playing with this last year, too.
Poppin' a wheelie on the motorcycle ride.
On a hot air balloon ride. After seeing her ride the roller coaster, I knew she would be fine with just about anything. Love this age where she likes rides.
We got her face painted for free with a sparkly pink butterfly.
In the ride section of the fair.
Bethany and I only went on one big ride together and that was this one. It was pretty intense, but very fun.
My mom and I got some fresh taffy. Love their chocolate flavor.
Before we even knew it, it started getting dark outside. We had been at the fair all day. Time flies when you're having fun.
I look forward to going again next year.
I bought a Scott Pilgrim t-shirt online last week and I love it. It's from the graphic novel and not the movie. You won't find this in Hot Topic. Anyway, from left to right on the shirt, Kim Pine, Knives Chau, Scott, and Ramona Flowers. I have seen the movie six times now.
Last Saturday, we went back down to Lacey to bottle up the wine we had made last month.
Me filling up some wine bottles. I had more fun bottling the wine than actually making it.
Bottles all filled, corked, and wiped down. Waiting for labels and seal.
Here is the custom label we made for our peach-apricot chardonnay. The picture was taken by me and is of my grandmother's apricot tree in San Diego. The name is slightly inspired by Juliana since we call her Jelly and Jellybean a lot, but also because the peach and apricot flavors in the wine are quite noticeable. Like eating a jellybean.
On Sunday, we went up to Shoreline to celebrate Bethany's grandmother's 96th birthday!
Julie rockin' out on the piano they had at Crista. To see more rockin' pictures from that fair, winemaking, and more, view the full set.
