Got three new songs that I've been listening to on repeat lately.
#3 The National - "Terrible Love"
The National's "Sorrow" made #1 on my list last week and here they are again at #3 with "Terrible Love". It makes sense since I'm practically in love with every track on their album, High Violet, but "Terrible Love" is one I listen to a lot as it is the first track. It's a wonderful song. Starts out mellow and picks up, but not too fast. Lead singer Matt Berninger has a great baritone voice. I would say that it's a combination of Johnny Cash, Chris Isaak, and Brad Roberts from Crash Test Dummies. If you haven't listened to this album yet, do so now.
#2 Arcade Fire - "Half Light I"
Another band to appear on last week's list, Arcade Fire is simply amazing. I discover a new song that I like every week on their album, The Suburbs. Right now, I love "Half Light I". I think it's mostly because of the beautiful violin played by Sarah Neufeld. It works really well in the song. If I ever get a movie deal on a script I am writing, I would use this song in its trailer. That is only if Spike Jonze doesn't use it first.
#1 Dan Black (feat. KiD CuDi) - "Symphonies Remix"
A friend posted "Symphonies Remix" on Facebook the other day (See? Sometimes it does pay off to watch every video your friends post.) and I instantly liked it. Seeing KiD CuDi involved definitely helps as he's been one of my favorite more recent rap artists (He made the list back in June.). Not only that, but British wonky pop artist Dan Black is pretty talented. The chorus is very catchy. The music video above is awesome, too. One of the best of the year, IMO.
What have you been listening to lately?
