Here is my "Bottom Ten Movies of 2010" list. These are the worst movies I saw and even didn't bother seeing. The Bottom Ten list is mostly for commentary on modern day film than actual reviews. I include Rotten Tomatoes ratings, budget amount, and domestic gross to show that we have to stop paying the studios money for these terrible movies. This is only my opinion. If you don't like my list, go do your own.
#10 The Bounty Hunter - Here's the problem with trying to appeal to men in a romantic comedy. We don't need action, hot chicks, or bounty hunters to enjoy a good romantic comedy. What guys are looking for in a romantic comedy is a sense of realism. Would a former NYPD detective really fall back in love with his ex-wife after being offered a job to arrest her? Probably not. It just doesn't interest us. Oh well. Jenn, what happened? Please do good movies again. Maybe Horrible Bosses will be good.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 7%
Budget: $40 million
Domestic gross: $67 million
#9 The Back-up Plan - I think I heard "beep-beep-beep" every time Jennifer Lopez backed up in this movie.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 20%
Budget: $35 million
Domestic gross: $37.5 million
#8 The Spy Next Door - Jackie, we didn't bring you to America to do kiddie films. We want to watch you do more double backflips off of garbage cans while using a mop to smash some baddie's face in.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 13%
Budget: $43 million
Domestic gross: $24 million
#7 Tooth Fairy - Ditto. *sigh* I guess we all have to have our Pacifiers, huh?
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 17%
Budget: $48 million
Domestic gross: $60 million
#6 Resident Evil: Afterlife - I actually thought that Afterlife might have a shot at being good due to Paul W.S. Anderson coming back to direct. I was wrong. Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter look more awkward than ever shooting guns. Plus, everything they've done in this movie, Trinity has already done it.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 25%
Budget: $60 million
Domestic gross: $60 million
#5 Marmaduke - I gotta say that I am quite tired of comic strips being turned into movies. Has there ever been a successful one? Garfield, Dennis the Menace, Popeye, The Phantom? Nope.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 10%
Budget: $50 million
Domestic gross: $34 million
#4 Cats & Dogs: The Revenge Of Kitty Galore - The first one wasn't very good, so the fact that Warner Bros. okayed a sequel is inexplicable. Interesting true fact: Every time someone watches this movie, a stray dog or cat is euthanized while listening to that Sarah McLachlan song.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 12%
Budget: $85 million
Domestic gross: $43 million
#3 Zeiten ändern Dich (Time You Change) - Time You Change is the worst reviewed movie of 2010 according to IMDb. The movie is about the life of German-Tunisian gangsta rapper, Bushido. Here is my take on this: Stop making movies about rap artists! No one cares. They all have the same story. Grew up on the streets, got discovered, and now they are raking in the dough. If this is what influences youth these days, they are going to learn about disappointment very soon.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: UNK
Budget: UNK
Domestic gross: UNK
#2 Vampires Suck -Ah, this isn't Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer's first time in my bottom ten, and somehow, I don't think this will be their last. I gotta admit, great timing jumping on the vampire bandwagon. It's been a long time coming for someone to make fun of Twilight, True Blood, and all those other wannabe vampire shows. Still, Friedberg and Seltzer's humor is terrible. I can literally write a funnier script than they can. In fact, I did... three times.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 4%
Budget: $20 million
Domestic gross: $36 million
Here it is, the moment you've all been waiting for...
#1 Furry Vengeance - Poor Brendan Fraser. I'm starting to really feel bad for the guy. If you enjoy such movies as Daddy Day Camp or Son of the Mask, you might like Furry Vengeance. On the other hand, if you like yourself, avoid this movie at all costs. In fact, even stop reading this!
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 8%
Budget: $35 million
Domestic gross: $18 million
Runners-up: Yogi Bear, The Last Airbender
Past lists:
2009
2008
2007
2006
2005
