Mad Men - Yep, it's back and it's as good as ever. It never fails to amaze me how much genius symbolism and depth they can fit into each episode. If you enjoy this show, I highly recommend watching the behind the scenes extras for each episode on AMC.com. They really dive further into the themes of each episode and why the actors portray a character a certain way.
-----------------------------
Game of Thrones - We just got HBO this year and so we blasted through season one of Game of Thrones quickly. Bethany has read the books. I haven't, but I knew the show was good. It's quite excellent. Gory and explicit in parts, but enough to look past to enjoy the drama of the show. Season two has been just as good as the first so far. Really recommend this one.
-----------------------------
The Killing - We're finally caught up on this series. We've committed so much time to this show already that we just have to know who dun it. Like the first season, there have been a lot of sneaky little twists and I'm hoping things get wrapped up nicely.
-----------------------------
Revenge - We were so happy to find out that this got picked up for a full season and now we're so happy that it's getting a second season. I'm glad viewership has been pretty steady as there are certainly good elements to the show. Still, it has a soap opera-ish feel to it, which makes it feel trashy. That's okay though. I allow myself one trashy show per season.
-----------------------------
The Wire - I know I'm a decade late to this party, but I finally starting watching The Wire since we got HBO and have access to HBO Go, which has to be one of the greatest inventions in all of history. People have always told me that if Arrested Development is the best comedy show ever made, The Wire is the best drama ever made. I'm in the middle of season two and enjoy the show. Looking forward to being in on the know when I'm all done.
-----------------------------
The Legend of Korra - I'm convinced that Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are writing geniuses, because I didn't think I would enjoy The Legend of Korra as much as the original Avatar series. While the story is a little more shallow, the animation has improved tenfold. It makes the action look so much cooler than the original series. That's not to say that the new characters and villain aren't great. They are. Julie and I are enjoying this one together.
-----------------------------
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - I know what you're thinking, but, look, it's a good show. I watch it with my daughter. They throw enough adult humor and quick stuff that kids just aren't going to catch to make this show worth watching. I think the animation is simplistic, but gorgeous, and the characters are so dynamic and interesting. I know I'm not the only adult who watches this as there are a lot of caption pictures featuring this series. It reminds me a lot of The Powerpuff Girls, but less socially acceptable for me to watch.
-----------------------------
Hyōka - Hyōka is the only new anime series that I'm watching right now, and it's largely because of the female character of Eru Chitanda. She is already one of my favorite anime characters now. The show is about four students in the high school's Classic Literature Club who solve little mysteries. The premise is only slightly intriguing, but I think it's the brilliant animation that does it for me. This is cinematic anime quality here in a TV show. I absolutely love the look. And wouldn't you know that it's the same folks that made my other favorites K-On, Clannad, and Kanon. But Chitanda... oh, Chitanda. To quote the show, "The problem is... this girl."
You can always see the latest on what shows and movies I've watched by looking at my Miso. What are you watching?

i am midway through season four of the wire. really enjoying it. probably going to hit up Boardwalk Empire after I finish before I lose HBO. I am very excited for the 8 episode mini season of Breaking Bad this summer.
