Sakura-Con 2013 took place way back at the end of March, right before my Japan trip. I have always wanted to go, but have never had the time or the will to spend that much money. However, with my love for photography, I decided to do the next best thing: Take photos of cosplayers at Sakura-Con.
It was a blast to see hundreds and hundreds of people dressed up as their favorite anime characters. Here are some of the most noteworthy cosplay attempts, in my book.
This girl cosplayed as Ahri from the game League of Legends. Pretty sophisticated and a lot of work. She had to have people carry her tails everywhere she went.
I certainly expected to see Bleach cosplay there.
I actually saw a couple Pyramid Head cosplayers from Silent Hill. Even a little kid.
A bunch of people from the Tales series.
Not sure what this character is from, but carrying that huge gun around must have been fun.
My favorite cosplay of the day was not something anime related. It was King Arthur and Patsy from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Spot on.
There was a big group that cosplayed as various characters from the Legend of Zelda series. A couple of them were kind of rude though.
Hilda from Pokémon Black and White.
Don't know where these are from, but good job.
My Little Pony cosplayers were out in full force. Here is DJ P0N-3.
Doc Scratch from Homestuck.
A great Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
An Umbrella Corporation soldier from the Resident Evil series.
My second favorite cosplay was from these girls as Marceline and Fionna from Adventure Time. Really accurate.
The courtyard right outside the Washington State Convention Center is the best place to find cosplayers looking for attention.
Pretty good Dread Pirate Roberts/Westley from The Princess Bride. As much as I appreciate the effort these people took, I don't really consider cosplay like this to be appropriate for Sakura-Con. Maybe Comic Con.
Applejack from My Little Pony, but in human form. Who would have known that she was predicting Equestria Girls.
Go, Speed! Go!
Um... hmm.
Great Hatsune Miku cosplay.
Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians was a really popular character to cosplay as.
This was the best Kakashi Hatake cosplay I saw at Sakura-Con.
Asami Sato and Korra from The Legend of Korra.
Super Sailor Moon and Luna!
Roxie Richter from Scott Pilgrim.
Sailor V from the Sailor Moon series.
Towards the end of my time at Sakura-Con, I met up with my friends Jesse and Elyssa. They cosplayed as well and so I did a little photo shoot with them.
Jesse dressed up as Kent from Amnesia.
I never watched Amnesia, but I know it's based off of a visual novel made for the PSP.
Elyssa cosplayed as Naomi Armitage from Armitage III.
Again, never watched this series, but I've heard good things.
I am most definitely considering doing this again next year, as well as likely dishing out the bucks to go inside the actual convention.
