This is my one hundred and first Foto Phriday post. The pictures today are from our Oscar party and Comic-Con. Full set with all 39 photos can be viewed here.
Bethany made this beautiful chocolate cake for my uncle's birthday.
As I mentioned in my Oscars Winners and Thoughts post, we were able to rent out a stage and project the Academy Awards show on a big wall. It was a huge upgrade from our past parties held in our house. We could invite more people, have more comfortable seats, and really make it a more professional feeling production.
We had the red carpet out, as always, and had many decorations and games. I feel like it went really well and I am already looking forward to it again next year.
The Emerald City Comicon took place last weekend and we went to the big event on Sunday. The whole family caught a ride on the light rail to downtown Seattle.
Bethany wore a Doctor Who Tenth Doctor dress. Someone built this really cool remote control Dalek.
There were also super legit looking droids from Star Wars there.
Matthew Inman, who is better known as The Oatmeal, was there signing things.
Tawnya cosplayed as the Eleventh Doctor. What a couple of nerds.
We dressed Coral up in her Fionna costume from Adventure Time. I knew she was going to be a huge hit there, but I didn't think it would reach the levels it did. People were constantly recognizing her cosplay and some asked for pictures.
This was my first time at Comicon, so I didn't expect it to be as busy as PAX Prime is. It was jam packed with tons of nerdy goodness.
As I mentioned, Coral was recognized everywhere. Here she is with a regular Fionna cosplayer.
Juliana got to meet Andrea Libman who voices her favorite character on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Pinkie Pie. Libman also does the voice of Fluttershy. The best part about this was that she said "Okie dokie lokie, Juliana!" to Julie in Pinkie's voice. Not only that, but after I tweeted this picture of them together, she retweeted it on her own page!
There was a neat kids area where they had to complete missions and they got a goodie bag at the end, which included a cool superhero t-shirt. I'm posting this picture to remind me to mention that Juliana is in the first few weeks of her first season of soccer. I signed her up for a local youth league team and she is improving in her skills everyday.
This is a poor image, but I had to take a sneaky shot of Karen Gillan there signing autographs in a no camera area. It was so cool to see Doctor Who's Amy Pond herself though we didn't want to pay so much to actually meet her.
I also managed to get a picture of Alan Tudyk from Firefly, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, and the voice of King Candy from Wreck-It Ralph, among many other things.
The girls are obsessed with Frozen still, so they wanted their picture taken with some Frozen cosplayers. To see more pictures from Comicon and the Oscar party, view the full set.
