Best Actor: J.K. Simmons in Whiplash
Runners-up: Michael Keaton in Birdman, Steve Carell in Foxcatcher, Jake Gyllenhaal in Nightcrawler, Michael Fassbender in Frank
Thoughts: J.K. Simmons has always been one of those low-key actors to me. He's pretty soft spoken in Juno, on The Legend of Korra, and even in those Farmers commercials. I know he plays a hardass as J. Jonah Jameson, but it's nothing compared to his character in Whiplash. Glad he won the Globe and I hope he wins the Oscar.
Best Actress: Kristen Wiig in The Skeleton Twins
Runner-up: Felicity Jones in The Theory of EverythingThoughts: Both Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig have great performances in this film, but Wiig faces less competition this year. Also, I haven't watched very many of the films with breakthrough female performances this year.
Best Breakthrough Performance: Eddie Redmayne in The Theory of Everything
Runners-up: Theo James in Divergent, Nicola Peltz in Transformers: Age of Extinction, Karen Gillan in Guardians of the Galaxy
Thoughts: Eddie Redmayne does a fantastic job capturing Stephen Hawkings' likeness. While I would not have given him the Golden Globe, he is deserving of recognition.
Best Soundtrack or Score: Interstellar
Runners-up: Guardians of the Galaxy, Whiplash, Birdman
Thoughts: Hans Zimmer does it again for me. Love his stuff.
Worst Movie of the Year: Maleficent
Runner-up: Boyhood
Thoughts: Disney, please stop making these. They aren't good and they look terrible.
Best Scene: The Final Performance in Whiplash
Runners-up: The Elevator Scene in I, Origins, Ground Pound in The Signal, Running Away in The Tale of The Princess Kaguya, Hammer Girl and Baseball Bat Man Hallway Fight in The Raid 2: Berendal.
Thoughts: Nothing put a bigger smile on my face than the ending of Whiplash. So incredibly good.
Crush of the Year: Rosanna Pansino
Runners-up: Olivia Cooke, Felicity Jones, Alison Brie
Thoughts: Nerdy Nummies has become a web show that me and my family watch on a regular basis. We like the tasty stuff Ro makes. We like that they are based on things we enjoy, like Mario Bros., Harry Potter, Sailor Moon, and Catbug! And we like Ro. I might like her a little more.
Best returning TV Series: Nathan For You
Runners-up: House of Cards, Game of Thrones
Thoughts: Nathan For You is such a funny concept and Nathan Fielder is so awkward. If you haven't checked out this show yet, you are missing one of the smartest, funniest shows on TV.
Best new TV series: True Detective
Runner-up: Silicon Valley
Thoughts: True Detective was incomparable, in my opinion. You don't get talent, story, and production value like this out of most TV dramas.
Best anime series: Kill la Kill
Runners-up: Nisekoi, Amagi Brilliant Park
Thoughts: I wouldn't say that Sailor Moon Crystal is a disappointment, it's just nothing that new to me. Kill la Kill, on the other hand, is completely unique, gorgeous, and zany.
2D crush of the year: Kosaki Onodera
Runners-up: Mako Mankanshoku, Nonon Jakuzure, Latifa Fleuranza
Thoughts: Onodera made it on so many people's list this year and how can you blame them? She's adorable, sweet, shy, and everything otakus look for in a waifu. I hope season 2 of Nisekoi has a lot more of her.
Best video game: Destiny
Runner-up: Titanfall
Thoughts: Bungie's mmofpsrpg is by far one of the best video games I have ever played. I'm still playing it! There is a lot to be frustrated about, but the game has so much to do and collect that I never get bored.
Best viral video: "You Could Stop at Five or Six Stores"
Runners-up: "Benedict Cumberbatch Can't Say 'Penguins'", "Americans Taste Exotic Asian Food", "I'm On Vacation", "Human Water Catapult", "Thug Life"
Thoughts: I have a special sense of humor and those audition tapes are just about the funniest thing I've ever seen. It gets me every time.
Best music video: "Osama Obama" by Larytta
Runners-up: "Kira Kira Killer" by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, "Birthday" (Lyric Video) by Katy Perry, "Turn Down For What" by DJ Snake feat. Lil John, "Zinedine Zidane" by Vaudeville Smash feat. Les Murray
Best smartphone app: Disney Tsum Tsum
Runners-up: Hyperlapse, Microsoft Office
Thoughts: When I learned about the Tsum Tsum game, I immediately downloaded it and was addicted like crazy, but no one else played it, so I couldn't get any extra plays. Now it's starting to grow and the stuffed dolls at the Disney Store are selling like hotcakes. I love my tsum tsums. Yes, this adult male has 8 tsum tsums in his collection so far. And not the least bit of shame.
