Fringe

Fringe premiered earlier this week. It is the fourth TV series created by J.J. Abrams. The plot deals with a research scientist named Walter Bishop, his son, and a female FBI agent who brings them back together. The show is described as a cross between The X-Files, Altered States, and The Twilight Zone.

I liked it more than I thought I would, but I don't think it's that great. I will continue to watch during the upcoming few weeks. I hope they didn't blow all the good story and effects on the pilot. I do like how it's different from Lost in that we know who/what is responsible for things, but don't know how the protagonists are going to connect it all together.

It looks like they're going to move to a more basic "freak of the week" formula like Smallville and House, and that worries me a little. And it's always sketchy to have a show on FOX these days (unless you're a cartoon comedy), so hopefully FOX doesn't cut funding of prematurely cancel the show.

Check it out.
