Saturday was the day of my cousin Shannon's wedding. It was up in Santa Barbara, so we had quite the drive ahead of us from Valley Center. The drive is over 200 miles. For lunch, we finally stopped at my favorite fast food restaurant, In-N-Out. Notice our plain burgers. That's right... Bethany and I order our burgers plain and dry. We were meant to be.

When we arrived in Santa Barbara, we checked into our hotel, changed, and went straight to the wedding. The ceremony took place in the chapel at El Presidio de Santa Bárbara.

Two sharp looking gentlemen waiting in front of the chapel. El Presidio was a military installation built by the Spanish in 1782 with the mission of defending the Second Military District in California.

The Presidio is now part of a State Historic Park and it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It quite picturesque. A couple weeks before the wedding, my cousin asked me if I would be their photographer since they had not hired one. It was my pleasure to do so, but I was worried I wasn't going to get enough good shots.

My LX3 is certainly capable of taking nice pictures, but I don't have any professional equipment of interchangeable lenses. I was relieved to see that a couple other people who had nice DSLRs were also aggressively taking photos of the wedding. Collectively, I think we'll have some fantastic shots. Here is my grandma with Juliana. As I mentioned in an earlier post, this trip was her first time meeting her.

My dad with his two younger brothers before the wedding. Gil on the left and Randy in the center. Always nice to see them.

My cousin Tom getting his collar adjusted by his mom. He walked our grandma down the aisle at the beginning of the ceremony.

I'm honestly not completely sure of who this is. I think it's the groom's stepmother? No matter what, I like this photo.

Inside the chapel.

The best man and ring bearer getting ready to walk down the aisle. Love the halo effect on everything in this picture.

Aaron and Shannon did a funny thing where they acted like they just happened to meet outside before walking down the aisle. I wish I got a chance to know him better as he seems like a funny guy. Wish I could have caught up with Shannon, too.

A shot of the whole wedding party during the ceremony.

During the exchanging of the rings. I took more black and white pictures than I normally do because I think they are very fitting for a wedding.

The kiss!

After the wedding, we followed the recessional to the reception which was only a block and a half away. Kept snapping pictures of the newly married couple. This is one of my favorite shots from the entire day.

The reception took place in the courtyard of the Casa de la Guerra. It was the residence of the fifth commandant of the Presidio de Santa Barbara, José de la Guerra y Noriega. The site is currently owned and operated by the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation as a historic house museum.

It was a pretty neat location to have a party. They had set up lights and a dance floor for the reception.

The food we had was salad, paella, and bread. The paella was a shrimpless one which I was thankful for since I don't really care for shrimp.

Juliana and these other two kids danced a lot that evening. It was so cute. Everyone gathered around to watch all of them. Overall, it was a nice wedding and we really enjoyed the time spent with family.

All 88 pictures I uploaded from the wedding can be found added in the San Diego Trip set, but also in its own set here. Feel free to check them out. Only two more days worth of photos left! -_-
