This is my ninetieth Foto Phriday post. The pictures today are of the kids, from a photowalk in Georgetown, and the Boeing Museum of Flight pedestrian bridge. Full set with all 49 photos can be viewed here.
Sorry I missed Foto Phriday a couple weeks ago. It's been really cold out lately and there's a lot of things going on, so I didn't have time. Plus, pretty much the whole family has been fighting colds this month. Coral got it the worst, but is better now. Tubby times always felt good for her.
Homebodies are what we have been for most of the last few weekends. On top of helping take care of the kiddos, I've been busy getting my passport renewed, booking a hotel, and getting an itinerary together for a big trip I'm taking in April. More on that soon.
Two Saturdays ago, Sam, a photog friend, and I went for a photowalk in Georgetown. Georgetown is a neighborhood of the city of Seattle and is directly north of Boeing Field.
I was inspired to check out Georgetown after we drove through it after the Santa Claus pancake breakfast party we attended last month. There are some old factory buildings like this dilapidated one, which used to be the stock house for Rainier Brewing Company.
I shot with my new 24-105mm on my 5D the entire time while in Georgetown. Love it more and more each day.
The side of the stock house that's not as demolished. I'm guessing that they didn't want to risk it falling into the main brewery building.
Here's the main building. It's now called the Georgetown Brewhouse and is home to artists and small businesses.
The brewery is right next to some major train tracks.
Here is Sam doing whatever she can to get a good angle on something. It's fun to go on photowalks with other photographers and compare the different shots we take at the same locations.
Here's a wide shot of the old brewery. Pretty much a photographer's paradise.
Since we were right by Boeing Field, planes were constantly flying overhead and close to the ground. I have tickets to fly on the 787 Dreamliner, but after the FAA groundings and inspections, that might not happen. Really sad as this probably won't be good for Boeing and I know lots of folks who work for them. I guess that's what happens when you outsource 60% of the design and manufacture to suppliers.
The front of the brewery along Airport Way South. Stupid Mini ruining my shot.
Georgetown is actually kind of an interesting area. It looks old and run-down, but still has a sort of hipster vibe to it.
Case in point, we stumbled upon the Georgetown Trailer Park Mall. Yep. A line of old RV trailers that sell clothing and trinkets. Weird. This is on Portland level right here.
A couple things that you will find in Georgetown at Oxbow Park is a giant cowboy hat and giant pair of cowboy boots. It's completely out of place in Seattle, but I guess it adds to the quirk of this part of the city.
Took a short drive down E Marginal Way to the Boeing Museum of Flight. I wanted to get on the pedestrian bridge there and take some pictures of it. Before that, we saw the statue for astronaut Lt. Col. Michael P. Anderson who died on Space Shuttle Columbia.
Here's that awesome bridge I wanted to shoot. You don't need museum tickets to cross this. To see more picture of the bridge, Georgetown, or the kids, view the full set.
