This is my ninety-fifth Foto Phriday post. I realize that it has been almost two months since my last Foto Phriday, but I've been pretty busy. We just finished our Xbox reveal event and now we're focused on supporting E3 at work. This causes me to work late nights giving me less time to play with my girls, which gives me almost no time to work on pictures. Plus, there are still tons of pictures I still need to work on for my Japan trip posts. The pictures today are from Coral's birthday, Seahurst Park, dad's birthday, Juliana's preschool graduation, and the EMP. Full set with all 149 photos can be viewed here.
Someone had her first birthday on May 2nd, and it was this little girl right here.
The year that Coral has been in this world has just sped by. Our gift to her was this fun outdoor water table, which she ended up loving. I think big sister likes it a little more though.
Coral still loves food more than anything right now. Total opposite of Julie who only ate when she had to. Another subtle difference between the girls at this age is that Coral is a mischief maker. She loves getting into things and exploring, as opposed to Juliana who would rarely cause such major messes.
I may have missed the traditional cherry blossom pedals in Japan, but I didn't miss the beautiful flowers on our crabapple tree.
The weather we had in early May was great. It felt like summer, but then the cold and rain returned and has stuck with us for a while. It just started being warm again this past week.
I thought this one lonely tiny leaf on our crab apple tree was kind of funny.
Coral's first birthday was held at my parents' house on a wonderfully sunny day.
Coral was not as excited about her cupcake as we would like her to be, but at least she tried it. Julie wouldn't even touch the thing.
We had family over at our place for Mother's Day this year. Yes, Julie's dress matches her Samantha American Girl doll.
Three Saturdays ago, we met up with our friends Jason and Molly and their kids James and Logan at Seahurst Park in Burien, WA.
Logan was walking, crawling, and rolling all over the beach.
Coral enjoyed just spectating.
The rest of the kids played in the sand and water on the beach. "Kids" here also includes Jason and I who dammed up the water on the beach with a log.
My dad turned 70 years old last month, so we threw a big Hawaiian-themed birthday party at my parents' home. Most people dressed up in their best Hawaiian garb.
My dad tried to get a picture with all of the ladies at the party.
Bethany made an awesome Hawaiian shirt birthday cake for my dad. It looked and tasted great!
Juliana's preschool graduation was a couple weeks ago and it was quite special. But do you see something different about Julie here? She got her ears pierced! She loves them.
We've seen Julie learn so many things thanks to her attending preschool all year. It went by quickly, but she's all set for kindergarten.
The kids sang songs and then, one-by-one, were given a graduation certificate and prayed for by their teacher.
We are so proud of her for being such a good student and look forward to seeing what she achieves in elementary school.
Just a little side note here: Coral does not like finger painting. Just want to make that clear. Don't try it.
I am the Kings Slayer. That's right, I slayed all of the kings. We're big Game of Thrones fans, so we went to the Experience Music Project in Seattle to see their fantasy exhibit where you can see the Iron Throne.
The exhibit is called Fantasy: Worlds of Myth and Magic, and I'm not sure how long it'll be there, so you should probably get there soon. I have heard that the Iron Throne from GoT will only be there for the first three months, meaning you have until around the end of July to sit in it.
If you don't recognize these costumes, then you haven't seen one of the best classic fantasy-comedies of all-time.
There are also sci-fi and horror exhibits to visit at the EMP. Here I am going into warp speed.
You can see the Superman outfit that Christopher Reeve actually wore.
Star Wars fans will see a lot there, too, like Yoda's pendant and walking cane from Empire and Return.
Bethany couldn't wait to see the old Dalek that they had from Doctor Who.
The bloody work shirt that Simon Pegg wore in Shaun of the Dead can be seen in the horror exhibit. Love that film!
Another happy display.
They have a scream booth there where it takes pictures of your face as you're screaming. I decided to go in with Yui-chan. Here's the result.
The huge video display at EMP.
A tornado of instruments.
Julie and Coral enjoyed the music area a lot. To see more pictures from the EMP, JJ's graduation, dad's birthday, Seahurst Park, and Coral's birthday, view the full set.
